Newport News Public Schools Closings

Newport News Public Schools in Virginia today announced that the All City Track Meet has been rescheduled to Tuesday at 5 p.m. because of the inclement weather.

WVEC-TV says all classes at Old Dominion University, Norfolk State University, Virginia Wesleyan College and Tidewater Community College have been canceled for today due to the inclement weather.

Pilot Online reports that the cancellation notice at ODU includes its classes at the Peninsula, Tri-Cities and Virginia Beach Higher Education Centers. All campus offices will be closed. Essential personnel were asked to consult with their supervisors about whether they need to report to work.

NSU canceled its evening classes Wednesday at 4 p.m. Essential personnel are still expected to report to work at Virginia Wesleyan College.

Chesapeake Public Schools canceled classes and 12-month employees are to report on a two-hour delay.

Norfolk Public Schools, Currituck County Schools and Bertie County Schools will be opening on a two-hour delay.

Accomack County Public Schools, Poquoson City Public Schools and Northampton County Public Schools will be closed Thursday.
